Willie Mae Hill, known as “Mawmaw” to her family and “Mae” to others, 91, of Jacksonville, was welcomed into Heaven on February 27, 2022 after a brief illness. Mae was born on November 25, 1930 in Carroll County, Georgia (Roopville). She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Lamar Hill, her parents Ernest and Cora Horsley Little and her sisters, Doris Hall and Jeane Mason. She and Lamar were married June 27, 1948 in Pascagoula, Mississippi at Calvary Baptist Church and were married for 69 years. She is survived by one sister, Jo Krebs, her in-laws, Stan and Carolyn (Hill) Smith of Western Grove, AR and Linda (Hill) Rice of Crystal River, FL. Her children are Rodney (Kay) Hill of Senoia, GA, Kathy Stange–Edwards (Dan) of St. Petersburg, FL, David (Susan) Hill of Jacksonville, FL, Paul (Bonnie) Hill of Jacksonville, FL, Becky (Mike) Palmer of Marianna, FL and Patty (Jack) Wilcox of Jacksonville, FL, 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren (plus two on the way) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She had a great impact and influence on many lives. She was a very faithful, loyal, loving, wise and godly woman. She had the gift of hospitality and was a great cook. She loved her family unconditionally. She was also very gracious and kind and had a servant’s heart. She was a woman of great wisdom. She was a faithful member of Hogan Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was President of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) for 13 years and she also served in the clothing ministry at the church. She was also involved with the Baptist Home for Children for many years. For 28 years, she was the Daycare Coordinator at Chappell School in Jacksonville. She owned and operated the family business, Airko Freight Systems, with her husband for over 45 years. Her Celebration Service will be Friday evening, March 4, 2022, at 7 p.m. at Arlington Baptist Church, 6009 Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211. Family will receive friends one hour prior at 6 p.m. On Saturday, March 5, the Family will gather at 2 p.m. at the Evans-Skipper Funeral Home (909 S. Tennille Avenue, Donalsonville, GA 39845) to proceed to the Oakview Church of God Cemetery (3595 Oakview Church Post Road, Donalsonville, GA 39845) for the graveside service at 3 p.m. Pallbearers (grandsons): Todd Bright, Collin Hill, Jacob Hill, Jonathan Hill, Jordan Hill, Nolan Hill, David Stange, Kenneth Stange and Jackson Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers (granddaughters): Cary Cartey, Karen Davidson, Leah Dunham, Kelly Ferguson, Dorey Herrera, Lindsey Rossi, Audrey Siegel, and Rebekah Wilcox and Kristen Winterman. Officiants are Reverend Randy Wilson and Reverend David Hill of Jacksonville and Darius Moss of Donalsonville, Georgia. In response to many inquiries about memorial donations and sympathy contributions, the family requests donations be made to the Mae Hill Mission Fund. She loved missions and supporting those who shared the gospel.
