Speight, Suzanne - After a long courageous battle with cancer, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Suzanne Speight, 56, of Jacksonville, FL, at Community Hospice Center on Monday, May 10, 2022 surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on November 1, 1965 in Jacksonville, Florida. Suzanne is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Dan Speight; her father Bobby Jack Dubberly of Jacksonville, Florida; her brother Steven Dubberly of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; her sister Shuri Smith of Jacksonville, Florida and her three daughters. Colleen Speight of Charleston, South Carolina; Sandra Walley of Middleburg, Florida; Britney Scarlett of Jacksonville, Florida, Five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her mother Nancy Jo Canter and her grandmother Josephine Canter. She graduated from Sandalwood High School in 1983 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Florida. She served more than 23 years in the active and reserve force of the United States Navy, including a deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2004 to March 2005. She successfully achieved the rank of Mass Communications Specialist Chief Petty Officer. She later retired from federal service as a community relations specialist at Navy Region Southeast in January 2022. Suzanne was an active member of Riverside Avenue Christian Church, in Jacksonville, Florida since 1997. She was very involved in her faith and instrumental in supporting the mission of the Church.
