Oscar Lee Williams

Oscar Lee Williams, 91, of Jacksonville, FL went to be with the Lord on December 24th, 2020. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was born on September 11th, 1929 in Crestview, FL to Ernest L Williams and Bertha L. Brewer Williams. He was an Army Veteran who served in WWII and was an electrician by trade. He was a member of the IBEW Local 177 for over 50 years. Oscar was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He never planted anything without referencing the Farmer’s Almanac and was quick to give pruning advice. He was the owner of J&O Game Bird Farm where he raised and sold quail for many years after retirement. Anyone who has ever met Papa, as he was known by many, will tell you he never met a stranger, told amazing stories to last a lifetime, and loved unconditionally. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest & Bertha Williams, wife Joyce M Williams and son Mark Anthony Williams. Oscar had the privilege of being a father to many through the years. He is survived by his children: Jan Williams of Jacksonville, FL, Oscar L. (Buster) Williams of Alma, GA, Shelba Griffin (Tommy) of Terry, MS, Monroe Lee (Tammy) of Jacksonville, FL, Reba Lee Holder of Jacksonville, FL, Debbie Lee Treadwell (Darrell) of Jacksonville, FL, Danny Shuffler (Sandy) of China Grove, NC, and Gary Huffman of Jacksonville, FL. He has 41 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other extended family. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, December 30th at Dinsmore Baptist Church, 10500 Old Kings Rd Jacksonville, FL 32219, officiated by Debbie Treadwell and Winson Butler. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, funeral service will start at 11:00. Graveside to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205.
