Mattia Giovanni Williams
January 2, 1986 - March 6, 2021
WILLIAMS - Mattia Giovanni Williams, 35, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2021. His family is deeply saddened by his loss. Mattia was born in 1986 to John and Stefania Williams in Camposampiero, Italy. He spent most of his childhood years inventing ways to endlessly annoy his younger sister, Melanie Menard, while simultaneously squeezing every ounce of energy from his parents with his exuberance. After graduating from Paxon School of Advanced Studies in 2004, Mattia attended Florida State College at Jacksonville with a major in Engineering. During his time at Florida State College, Mattia was employed at Johnson and Johnson as a lens fabrication technician with a passion for machinery. He loved anything survivalist including fishing, camping, hiking and beach going. He loved to debate and was an avid animal lover. He was known to bring home all the stray animals that crossed his path and had a special love of kittens. Mattia was brilliant, moody, desperately generous, and kindhearted. Family meant everything to Mattia, he was unendingly proud of his daughters, Memphis Burdetsky and Alessandra Williams. Allie shares Mattia’s passion for debate (and boy did they debate), while Memphis follows in her father’s footsteps with her love of animals. He was also a loving uncle (Zio) to his nieces and nephew, Mason, Isabella and Evelyn Menard, and was arguably their favorite person in the world. Anyone who knew Mattia knew that he was endlessly loyal and always willing to help others. He will be missed more than words could ever convey. The family requests that donations be made to his daughters’ college fund or a no-kill animal shelter of your choice in lieu of flowers. There will be a memorial service held on March 19th at 5:00 PM at Parkwood Baptist Church.
