February 14, 1939 - September 3, 2021

Floyd Monroe Sunrise Sunset February 14, 1939 September 3, 2021 Obituary Mr. Floyd Monroe was born in Alma, Georgia on February 14, 1939, to Luther DeWitt Monroe and Alice Elizabeth Everett. He lived most of his life in Jacksonville, Florida. He served in the Unites States Army and worked as a merchant seaman. He also had a stint with the United States Postal Service. He had an extensive career of over 40 years with Florida East Coast Railroad and retired as a Yard Master. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mattye Monroe; sister, Linda Monroe McQuay; daughters: Priscilla Wilson, Michele (Darryl) Owens, Felecia Monroe Hudson, and Jessica Mapp; brother-in-law, W. B. Koon; and sisters-in-law, Harriett K. Dailey and Mary Everett. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Frank Monroe, Freddie Monroe, Kelly Everett, Joe Everett, Willie Everett; sisters: Brenda Monroe Snead Ball, Sylvia Monroe Batts; daughter, Beverly Turner and two sons Michael Monroe and Robert Greene. He has a multitude of nieces and nephews as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives, and many dear friends, and family pet, Pierre. Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
