February 8, 1944 - February 9, 2022
Evelyn Judith Meade was taken into the arms of her Blessed Lord on February 9, 2022. Judy passed away after a brief illness at the age of 78. She was born on February 8, 1944 in Weymouth, MA to John F. and Rita M. Walsh. Judy was raised in Wrentham MA, and later moved to Jacksonville, Fl as a teenager. She graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1961 and soon after began training in the legal profession. Her development in the legal field enabled her to become a very skilled paralegal for some of the most respected law firms in the state of Florida. Later, she began work with CSX Railroad, working in a number of different functions over the years. When Judy retired, she was working as a relocation manager, where she (along with a small staff) managed all relocations for the entire country for all CSX employees who were transferring to any city or state. Judy enjoyed her work, but she loved her family first and foremost. She was always available as a young wife and mother, and organized her time with her job to ensure that she was always there for her boys before and after school daily. Judy volunteered many hours of her time to assist teachers as a room mother and helped with countless other activities involving her children’s education. The many years she spent taking her boys to baseball and football practices, cheering for them loud in the stands on game days, and lifting the spirits of all in her family (when times were hard) are memories that cause our hearts to overflow with a love and gratitude that we can never repay. Judy loved her Catholic faith, and instilled her love of Our Lord and The Blessed Mother to her children and others – teaching us not only by words, but with her own example. She was happy to lend her skills to the church by teaching RCIA classes, acting as a lector for many years at Holy Mass, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister among many other duties. Her witness to others in her faith was evident by countless people who know her as a beautiful, faithful, strong, humble woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Judy spent her life seeking to do the Lord’s will and encouraged others to do the same. Judy also had a great love for God’s animals, rescuing many of them (becoming our family pets), and finding good homes for countless others. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Walsh and her former husband Gordon Meade –both of whom we love and miss deeply. They both added their continuous, selfless support to Judy to aid in the development and welfare of her children their entire lives. The void felt by Judy’s passing from those of us that knew her is far too large to put into words. She leaves behind a heartbroken family that is eternally grateful to God for the gift of this wonderful woman. Her time spent with us, and the sacrifices she made for her family and others will forever be treasured. Survivors include her loving sons, Eric Meade (“daughter” Amber- grandchildren Zayne and Alex) and Douglas Meade (Kimberly - grandchildren Kaley, Patrick, Hunter, Luke, Nicholas, Brian and Kristina), a brother Jon Walsh, her close cousin Rita L ’Herault, and her dear friend Larry McKay. Larry’s friendship, along with his love and concern for Judy and her family over the years has been a blessing beyond words. Visitation for Judy will be held Thursday, February 17, at 6pm (with a Rosary to follow) at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Rd Jacksonville Fl 32211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 18, at 10 am at Christ the King Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery 6920 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, Fl 32211.
