David E. Rodgers

July 9, 1940 - January 9, 2022

RODGERS - David E. Rodgers - It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of David E. Rodgers, of Jacksonville, Florida, aged 81 years. He passed away peacefully on January 9, 2022, after a brief hospital stay. He was born July 9, 1940 to his parents, Edward A. Rodgers and Dora E. Rodgers (née Lunsford), in Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward A. Rodgers, his mother, Dora E. Rodgers (née Lunsford), his stepmother, Nina L. Rodgers (née Patten), his sister, Joyce A. Rodgers, his brother, George O. Rodgers, his sister-in-law, Mary Rodgers (née Panagiotakos) his brother-in-law, Norman D. Payne, and nephews, Eddie Adams and William M. Rodgers (Elizabeth). He is survived by his sister, Nancy T. Payne, many cousins, niece, Dora Smith, nephews, David A. Adams (Debbie), Billy Henderson, Scott Henderson (Ruby), Randy Henderson, Steve Rodgers (Robin), James Rodgers (Gina), David P. Rodgers (Cathy), as well as, many great nieces and nephews. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School Class of 1958 and attended University of North Florida. He enlisted in the United States Marines Corps making Staff Sergeant/E6 (1958-1967), then the United States Marine Corps Reserves (1967-1971) before transferring to the United States Air Force (1971-1981) where he retired as a Master Sergeant. He was a 53 year 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Graveside Service with Military Honors and Internment will be held on February 7, 2022 at 2 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 N Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida, 32206. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
