Betty McElhanon (78), passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Community Hospice in St. Vincent’s Hospital surrounded by family. She was born November 23, 1943, in Chambers County, Alabama to parents, Hensley Sanders and Annie Mae Sanders. Betty retired from PACE Industry (Terminal Bag Plant) in Yulee, Florida. She had a passion and gift for Interior Decorating and Catering Parties / Weddings. Betty is a member of Gardenview Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida and was involved with the Ladies in Action Group ministering to nursing homes and served as the President of the Women’s Missionary Union. Betty loved her family, who affectionately referred to her as “Betty Crocker” because she was the “World’s Greatest Cook” to them. The highlight of her year was planning / attending the Annual June Sanders Family Reunion Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bobby) McElhanon, and parents, Hensley, and Annie Mae Sanders She is survived by her sisters: Frances Hurst of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Peggy Forde (Spouse, Bill Forde) of Yulee, Florida A Graveside Memorial Service will be held to Celebrate the Life of Betty McElhanon at Westlawn Memorial Park (2600 Ribault Scenic Drive, Jacksonville, Florida, 32208) on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Reverend Ronnie Sanders will be officiating the service. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation gift to Gardenview Baptist Church, Ladies in Action Group (3139 Armsdale Rd. Jacksonville, Florida 32218). This group serves the Nursing Homes in Jacksonville, Florida, and surrounding communities.
