Axtelle Socorro Baggett

May 3, 1935 - November 29, 2021

Axtelle Socorro Baggett passed away peacefully on November 29, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. Axtelle was born on May 3. 1935 in Puerto Rico. She was a graduate of Academy of the Assumption. In 1951 she was crowned Ms. Junior Puerto Rico. She was very proud of her Puerto Rican heritage. She married Liston Baggett on August 4, 1955. They were married for 45 years and had 4 children. With Liston being in the military, the family lived in various places eventually settling in Jacksonville in 1976. Axtelle was an avid sports fan. She loved to watch baseball, golf, football, tennis and NASCAR. She got to see her favorite Braves win the World Series this year. She also closely followed the Miami Dolphins and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Her competitive spirit was exemplified in the annual Easter Family Croquet Tournament. She was very proud of being crowned Champion! She had many friends who will miss her dearly including her fellow Red Hats sisters and the Arlington Newcomers’ Club. With these ladies, along with their fellowship, she enjoyed luncheons, playing Bunco and doing crafts. Axtelle was a devout Catholic and an inspiration to others. She loved music and sang in the choirs at Prince of Peace and Resurrection Catholic Churches. She inspired positivity and humor on her daily Facebook posts. She will be remembered as always upbeat and happy. She truly loved life. Those that knew her will not forget her laugh. She loved to be around people, especially her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Axtelle is survived by her four children, Richard Baggett (Debbie), Beth Morgan, Jackie Radomski (Bill), Mary Allen (Eddie), 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The funeral mass will be officiated by Father Michael Larkin on Thursday, December 9th at 11:00am at Resurrection Catholic Church at 3383 University Blvd. N, Jacksonville FL 32277.
