DAMATO.......Margaret "Maggie" Damato, nee Neff, 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph. Mr. and Mrs. Damato were founding members of Christ the King Catholic Church. Margaret was a very devout Catholic and practiced her faith daily. Maggie was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. She genuinely loved people, sports, and cooking. Margaret was the Sportswoman of the year in 1961, specializing in Bowling. She was a selfless mother and wife who approached life with tremendous grace. Mrs. Damato was predeceased by her sons, Michael Anthony Damato (1980) and Joseph Earl Damato (2010). In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by her daughter, Susanne Marie Kowalski (Thomas); daughter-in-law, Nancy Damato; brother, Arthur James Neff (Joan), grandchildren, Dawn Clapp (David), Erin Philips (Chris), and Michael Damato (Kristina); great grandchildren, Michaela, Caleb, Isaac, Owen, Campbell, Nova, Joseph Van, and Michael Joseph. Margaret was "Aunt" to many and friend to all. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday (TODAY), August 2nd at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. The Rosary will recited at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 3rd at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 N. Arlington Rd. with Fr. Thanh Nguyen, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Hospice of N. E. Florida.
